Deconstruction 2 Kasabian-fire

The first shot is pieces of music sheets flying about in slow motion, which already shows that these are significant or will later on in the video have some sort of significance. The colour scheme is browns and beiges, like it has a sepia filter, which gives it that sort of old western feel about it.

It’s kind of like a short movie were all the beginning all the characters are being introduced, so it gives this kind of storyline. The characters that are being introduced are quite mysterious dressed in black with a suitcase. So not really giving much away about the characters or about the storyline.

It cuts to CCTV footage as if the audience is watching what’s going on through camera footage and suggests that some sort of crime is taking place as that is what CCTV camera’s are used for and as the characters are walking in hastily with a empty black bag it contributes to this idea that something is going to happen. What also contributes to this is the other character present which is some sort of police officer, so all of this adds up to create a small part of a storyline.

This is still in the style of CCTV however it shows the characters identity slightly and shows what they are carrying and it’s a guitar as if it’s a gun, this is like the guitars are symbolising guns as all the people in the place are scared and begin to panic. So the video begins to make sense. As the chorus kicks in for the second time it kicks into the CCTV again its as if when the chorus begins its faster and more upbeat and they get some sort of adrenalin from committing these crimes. The video is kind of in synchronise with the music when It comes to the pace of the song and the action taking place.

The theme continues throughout where guitars are replaced by guns, the colour scheme remains the same to carry out the old western style. This then means the storyline carries on throughout the whole video. The narrative is like a bank robbery and the thieves get caught by the police and are trying to escape with the money and there is a huge shootout between the police and the villains who in this case are Kasabian.

The villains give up and through the bag of cash away which in this case is the music notes from the beginning, the close up of this suggests that the villains are surrendering and that they are handing back the music notes. So the music notes from the beginning are very significant and are what has caused all this trouble and are used to symbolise money in this case. The audience see the music notes in the beginning moving in slow motion but are unaware of what they are used for and by watching the full video are now aware of why they are used and there significance. It’s like the video has went in a circle, where it starts off with the ending and as you watch it the beginning then becomes clear.
